About The Position

The Mechanical Piping Superintendent is a leadership role responsible for managing multi-craft industrial jobsites with an emphasis on piping and structural steel. This position requires maintaining knowledge of OSHA requirements, supervising foremen and craft employees, and ensuring that all required materials, personnel, tools, and equipment are readily available for the job. The Superintendent is also responsible for assuring quality of work, fostering a safe work environment, and acting as a key point of customer contact for communication and business development. Additional responsibilities include tracking project progress, managing budgets, recruiting skilled craft, and maintaining good working relationships with co-workers and customers.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of 15 years of industrial piping/mechanical experience.
  • Requires advanced skills in pipefitting and welding.
  • Preferred skills in ironworking and boilermaking, and knowledge of soft crafts.
  • Ability to see/plan weeks ahead, identifying issues before they arise.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems in the field.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating and project controls.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to proficiently use a smart phone/tablet.
  • Must be willing to travel and take on out of town assignments for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of OSHA requirements for the specific types of work that we perform.
  • Supervise and direct foremen and craft employees.
  • Provide scheduling & planning for projects.
  • Ensure that all required materials, personnel, tools, & equipment are readily available for the job.
  • Assure quality of work meets customer and company expectations.
  • Foster a safe work environment and prioritize worker safety.
  • Act as a key point of customer contact for communicating information and updates.
  • Review time recaps and assure accuracy of craft employee time.
  • Track and report progress, manage project budget and schedule, and accurately account man-hours to appropriate cost codes.
  • Recruit and acquire skilled craft in compliance with company policy.
  • Manage owned and rented equipment, including maintenance and upkeep.
  • Purchase materials as required.
  • Manage sub-contractors if needed and coordinate with other onsite contractors.
  • Work with other company personnel to achieve project success.
  • Assist with estimating and change management.
  • Develop good working relationships with all co-workers, customers, & associates.
  • Maintain integrity, professionalism, & morale of ISO Services' jobsites.
