About The Position

The International student worker office assistant plays an essential role in supporting various functions within the ISC. This part-time position (18 hours per week) allows international students to gain practical experience, develop professional skills, and contribute to the university community while balancing their academic responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
  • Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support: Assist department staff with routine administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, photocopying, and organizing documents.
  • Customer Service: Greet ISC visitors, answer phone calls, and respond to inquiries in a courteous and professional manner. Provide assistance to students, faculty, and staff as needed.
  • Event Support: Help plan, promote, and execute ISC university events, workshops, and seminars. Set up event spaces, manage registrations, and provide logistical support during events.
  • Office Technology: Utilize computer software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Data Collection: Assist in collecting and organizing data for research projects, surveys, or reports.
  • Social Media and Communications: Contribute to the university's social media presence by creating posts, updating content, and engaging with followers.
  • Special Projects: Contribute to special projects assigned by department supervisors, which may involve research, analysis, or creative tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other student workers, staff, and faculty members to accomplish tasks and projects.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the ISC director or their leadership designee.
