About The Position

The IS Mechanical Designer I will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles. This role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects. The designer will conduct field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities, produce design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams, architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling. The position requires delivering concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines and contributing to all areas of the creative process and department. The designer will perform work under direct supervision, handle basic issues and problems, and assist with the development of technical reports or related documents.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 1-2 years' experience with building construction, especially mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or automatic temperature controls.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Vision and Creativity.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Planning skills.
  • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.
  • Building Automation System design and sequence writing experience - Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium.
  • HVAC Design and Commissioning experience - Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam.
  • Higher Education and Healthcare design experience.

Responsibilities
