Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of Sports field irrigation systems to ensure the health and vitality of sports fields and park spaces. Reports to Sports Turf Supervisor.
Perform regular inspections of irrigation systems and backflows to identify leaks, malfunctions, and inefficiencies.
Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning filters, adjusting sprinkler heads, and lubricating valves, to ensure proper system operation.
Monitor water usage and irrigation schedules to optimize efficiency and conserve water resources.
Diagnose and troubleshoot irrigation system problems, including electrical issues, valve malfunctions, and pipe leaks.
Perform repairs and replacements of irrigation components, such as valves, controllers, solenoids, and pipes, as needed to restore system functionality.
Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to procure necessary parts and equipment for irrigation system repairs.
Assist in the installation, modification, and expansion of irrigation systems to meet the evolving needs of park landscapes.
Collaborate with landscape architects and designers to ensure proper placement and design of irrigation infrastructure.
Implement upgrades and enhancements, such as smart irrigation technology and drip irrigation systems, to improve water efficiency and plant health.
Implement water conservation strategies, such as soil moisture sensors, rain sensors, and weather-based irrigation controllers, to reduce water usage and promote sustainability.
Maintain accurate records of irrigation system maintenance activities, repairs, and upgrades.
Generate reports on water usage, system performance, and conservation efforts to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Provide regular updates and recommendations to park management regarding irrigation system maintenance and water management practices.
Completion of high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional three years of experience in irrigation maintenance and installation.
Experience in turf maintenance and dealing with the public.
