Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial irrigation repair
  • Strong working knowledge of pumps, valves and wiring.
  • Skilled in using volt meters, wire locators, and diagnostic tools
  • Familiar with flow meter and decoder installation and programming
  • Ability to interpret irrigation plans and layouts
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing a service route with ability to work by yourself
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Physically fit to dig, lift 50+ lbs, kneel, and perform manual labor for extended periods
  • Capable of operating trenchers, saws, and other small machinery

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and repair of commercial irrigation systems (90% service / 10% install)
  • Troubleshoot and repair both 2-wire and conventional systems
  • Use volt meters and wire tracing tools to identify electrical issues
  • Install and program 2-wire decoders and flow meters
  • Adjust and program a variety of controllers, including smart systems
  • Clean and replace valves, solenoids, and diaphragms as needed
  • Perform pipe repairs, including lateral and mainline breaks
  • Ensure system coverage and performance through inspections and adjustments
  • Conduct seasonal system start-ups and winterizations
  • Maintain accurate work documentation using mobile devices or forms
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors about job progress, parts needed, and issues
  • Keep tools, truck, and equipment organized and well-maintained
  • Follow all safety procedures and company standards
  • Inspect backflows (classes provide it not certified)
