About The Position

Experienced landscape professionals will demonstrate safe power equipment and hand tool operations, landscape practices that promote plant health, irrigation repairs & controller programming, shrub pruning, and planting. Irrigation Technician (level 2) Reports to: Account Manager or Irrigation Tech. Sr. Experience: 2 years - Irrigation CLT and demonstrate Irrigation Apprentice (level) 1 Competencies Physical Requirements: frequent need to stand, stoop/bend, kneel, walk, twist, periodic lift heavy objects up to 60 pounds. PPE is required. Authorized Driver Monthly Revenue Goal: $12,000-$20,000 Understanding Electrical Principles: Pumps Identify pump types, components and controls Understand pump flow and pressure Demonstrate understanding of pump safety Backflow functionality Identify backflow type, function and componenets Identify state and local requirements Identify leaks Identify all water supplies Demonstrate understanding of basic soil-plant water relationships Plans and as-build documentation Read scales and legend Understand specifications Voltmeter Operation Test amperage or watts Test for voltage, resistance, and continuity Understand voltmeter readings Controller electrical operation Demonstrate understanding of basic controller programming Identify components Perform diagnostics procedures Perform controller functions Perform reset procedures Perform basic contoller ad compenent replacement Transformer operation Test incoming and outing voltage Match transformer properties for replacement Solenoid operation Test resistance and incoming voltage Identify manfacturer Identify manufacturer specifications Wiring types Determine wire size and type Determine appropriate burial depth Field wiring/wire tracking/valve locating Select appropriate equipment Perform equipment setup and operational procedures Perform splicing procedures Understanding Hydraulic Principles: Sensors Demonstrate understanding of how sensors operate Identify sensors used Perform sensor maintenance and replacement Follow manufacturer's operating procedures Valves Demonstrate understanding of how valves operate Identify valves Perform valve installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair Install appropriate valbe enclosure Pressure testing Determine dynamic vs. static pressure Understand pressure gauge readings Understand manufacturer's pressure requirements Flow testing Record flow meter readings Understand manufacturer's flow requirements Drip mechanics Determine maximum tubing length Identify filtration and pressure regulation requirements Identify emission devices Perform maintenance procedures Determine appropriate component usage Read friction loss charts Understand maximum feet per second Understand relative precipitation rates

Requirements

  • Compliance of Irrigation quality standards
  • Two years of experience as an Irrigation Technician
  • Water Meter Readings
  • SMART Weather Tech Controller Programming
  • Flow Sensors and Master Valves replacement
  • 2 wire controllers troubleshooting and repairs
  • Converting overhead spray nozzles to drip irrigation
  • Monitor compliance with water restrictions, ordinances and laws
  • Able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
  • Able to work in various positions including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting.
  • Able to shovel trench by hand
  • Reliable transportation to job site/office
  • Report to work at the designated time and location
  • Driver authorized to operate a company vehicle
