About The Position

Primary Purpose: To assist in district goals through effective and efficient operation of irrigation systems in order to maintain a satisfactory condition of the district landscapes The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required. Requirements

• 3-5 years as a commercial irrigation maintenance technician
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License with a good driving record
• Ability to operate environmental irrigation systems
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
• Proficient knowledge of math skills which pertain to basic wiring, automated irrigation controllers, central irrigation systems and computerized irrigation controllers
• Basic backflow and plumbing knowledge
• 3-5 years’ experience working on irrigation systems
• Maintain emotional control under stress
• Frequent districtwide travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours
• Walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying
• Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles
• Exposure to extreme temperatures and loud noises

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment
• Adjusts, repairs and replaces irrigation systems, heads, controllers etc.
• Must be able to program all types of irrigation systems
• Ability to read, interpret and implement projects from blue prints, sketches, schematics and drawings
• Demonstrate and train other employees on various equipment as necessary
• Site preparation
• Haul trash and debris
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
