About The Position

The Irrigation Technician performs technical, skilled, semi-skilled manual and equipment operation work in the maintenance of irrigation systems for all areas of responsibility. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Golf Course Maintenance or Grounds Maintenance Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Provides support for the department. In addition to other duties as assigned, will work with power and hand tools, vehicular apparatus and all special equipment used in irrigation maintenance. Trains employees in the proper and safe use of all equipment and tools.
• Plans, installs, and maintains all irrigation systems for the POA.
• Installs new systems and/or repair existing irrigation piping systems.
• Maintains and repairs automatic sprinkler.
• Orders all parts and supplies necessary to maintain all irrigation systems.
• Operates all equipment required to repair systems, such as ditching equipment, backhoes, etc.
• Trains employees in the safe operation of tools and equipment used for irrigation maintenance.
• Maintains necessary maintenance records.
