Irrigation Technician

Requirements
- 3-5 years related work and/or relevant college education
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Some weekends and long days required based on seasonality of work
- Ability to obtain WG Hilo operator license
- Ability to operate equipment
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
- Computer skills in Microsoft office a plus
- Elevated organizational and math skills a plus
Responsibilities
- Daily Irrigation
- Assist Irrigation supervisor with planning and developing daily and weekly irrigation schedules to ensure all plants are receiving the proper moisture
- Carry out daily irrigation responsibilities including running lines, setting guns, and running linear and pivot irrigation systems
- Participate in irrigation team evening and weekend rotational responsibilities
- Train and supervise staff to implement and carry out irrigation plan
- Assist Irrigation Supervisor by tracking and recording rainfall events
- Assist Irrigation Supervisor by tracking and recording irrigation events
- Work with irrigation maintenance crew to safely and efficiently fix all irrigations system issues
- Assist in the process of irrigation equipment maintenance and inventory
- Communication
- Keep an open line of communication with Irrigation Supervisor about all daily and weekly needs and priorities
- Keep an open line of communication with Field Operation Manager about daily irrigation schedule and personnel needs
- Keep an open line of communication with Production Coordinator to make sure crops and being irrigated when planting is complete
- Keep an open line of communication with Plant Health staff in regards to herbicide sprays and irrigation
- Communicate needs for new irrigation supplies (pipe, guns, sprinklers, etc) to Operation manager and Irrigation specialist.
- Shipping Responsibilities
- Assembling orders
- Stacking boxes
- Pulling UPS ground orders
- Ability to use scanner
- Assist with racking and staging of product
- Load and unload trucks
- Operator Ability to operate specialized equipment
- Operation of other equipment throughout the year including but not limited to: Batwing mowing, Cultivating, Roto Tilling, Field Prep
- Others as assigned
- Digging Crew
- Participate in the fall and spring storage digging
- Trailer personnel
- Truck driving
- Trailer loading
- Sand covering
- Picking up strays
- Putting plant product in cribs and leveling – ensuring proper labels go on cribs
- Team Responsibilities
- Communicate any problems or concerns to appropriate manager immediately
- Carry a positive attitude and help supervise and train other staff in certain job responsibilities
- Follow and uphold company policies
- Utilize your experience within the context of Walters Gardens
- Become proficient with knowledge of plants, process, and equipment.
- Complete other duties as assigned by manager
