Irrigation Technicians assemble, install, and maintain commercial landscape irrigation pipes and systems. Duties include but are not limited to handling the materials for irrigation, troubleshooting irrigation systems and programming controllers. When not working with irrigation, Irrigation Technicians assist the crew in all aspects of landscape labor, including planting, pruning, and maintenance. They must know how to efficiently work with his/her hands and with tools such as shovels, rakes, and general landscape hand tools, plus assist in keeping sites clear and clean, weeding, edging, mowing, blowing and trimming, and perform a variety of other functions when requested. Hourly pay-scale is between $22.00 - $30.00. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Ability to perform all competencies of Irrigation Helper. Language skills: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Math skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately. Physical requirements: Ability to lift, pull and push up to 50 lbs., carry materials, bend, twist, kneel, climb, and balance. Ability to work in a kneeling position for extended periods of time. Ability to work in the rain and in extreme temperatures. Ability to withstand dust, pollen and gas fumes on a daily basis. Driving: Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, Valid Arizona Driver’s License Other: Although typical workdays are Mon-Fri, they must be able to work the occasional weekend. Employment offers are contingent to passing a pre‐hire physical, background check and drug screen.You must be legally authorized to work in the United States. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Irrigation Technicians work principally outdoors and may work above ground, sub-surface or under/in water. A certain amount of strength, dexterity, and alertness is necessary due to proximity to equipment, tools, and other trades. Because irrigation technicians work in so many varied conditions, they must be knowledgeable of the hazards and safety requirements of each and every project.
