About The Position

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the programming, operations, monitoring, and maintenance of the golf course irrigation systems. The position requires identifying and reporting irregularities in turf quality or irrigation performance to ensure optimal playing conditions and course appearance.

Requirements

Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and communicate with guests about job-related needs.
Ability to read write and speak, and communicate in basic English preferred
Prior experience in golf course or landscape maintenance
Knowledge of irrigation systems and components
Detail oriented and thorough
Ability to perform consistent work to the highest standards
Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests
Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant friendly way
Ability to read, write and speak and communicate in basic English
Ability to communicate with guests in a professional manner
Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely and properly
Excellent organization skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Basic understating of agronomy, turfgrass science, and golf course watering practices
Basic working knowledge of irrigation systems
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time during shift
Must be able to withstand frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, and walking
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Primarily outdoor
Exposure to sun, heat, cold, and weather
Exposure to hazardous chemicals and dangerous equipment (with PPE)

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, including pipes, heads, valves, and pump stations
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with irrigation equipment and systems
Perform regular inspections to ensure proper functioning of irrigation systems
Operate irrigation heads to provide additional water where needed; apply wetting agents on greens as required
Dig trenches, lay pipes, and perform other installation tasks using hand and power tools
Edge irrigation heads, valve boxes, and drains; maintain irrigation satellites in clean, neat, and insect-free condition
Monitor pump stations, take fertigation readings, and adjust injector pumps as required
Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records for irrigation systems and equipment
Manage inventory and order irrigation parts, supplies, and course materials as needed
Keep irrigation service vehicles, pump houses, and inventory areas clean, organized, and well-maintained
Collaborate with landscaping and maintenance teams to coordinate irrigation needs
Repair turf and greens using seeds or plugs as needed
May supervise a small labor force for special projects
Perform other general golf course maintenance duties as directed by the supervisor
All other duties as assigned
