About The Position

We are currently recruiting to fill the following position: Irrigation Technician. Under general supervision, the Irrigation Technician provides technical and skilled labor operating equipment for the installation, maintenance, and repair of computerized irrigation systems to ensure plant material and lawn care meets customer standards.

Requirements

  • Two years of relevant work experience; Irrigation Technician Certification (CIT) highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial landscape computerized irrigation systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, tools, and materials used in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of landscaped irrigation systems.
  • Knowledge of uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of landscaped irrigation systems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business, operational and strategic management problems.
  • Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.

Responsibilities

  • Performs varied semi-skilled and skilled maintenance duties in the maintenance, repair, and construction of commercial irrigation systems.
  • Operates vehicles and a variety of tools and power equipment used in irrigation installation and maintenance.
  • Assists with monitoring inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining purchase records within authorized budget.
  • Perform site assessments to ensure proper soil moisture for the local plant material.
  • Digging in established landscapes and in a variety of soil conditions.
  • Performs inspections of irrigation systems for proper operation.
  • Install irrigation components, clocks and other irrigation devices ensuring that they function efficiently.
  • Repairing and maintaining valves, tracing electrical components, locating existing zones and valves, and performing pump repairs.
  • Prepare necessary documents and reports in a timely manner.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and performs all duties in a safe manner.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
