About The Position

P lumbing-related work installing, maintaining, repairing, and operating irrigation systems.

Requirements

• A three (3)-year combination of education, training, or plumbing experience which involved the installation, repair, or operation of irrigation systems.
• Must have the physical ability to meet the physical demands of this job and perform the essential functions.
• A valid Florida driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.
• Knowledge of the techniques, methods, practices, and procedures used in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of irrigation systems
• Knowledge of equipment, tools, and supplies required to install, maintain, repair, and operate irrigation systems
• Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Basic oral, written, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to care for and properly use irrigation system-related equipment and tools
• Ability to read, understand, and apply job-related information and materials including blue prints, electrical diagrams, schematic drawings, and equipment and safety manuals
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle

Responsibilities

• Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs irrigation systems and related sprinkler equipment and associated plumbing fixtures in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory standards.
• Reviews technical specifications and related design data to include blueprints, electrical diagrams and schematics.
• Inspects and programs irrigation-related time clocks.
• Develops parts and supply list for assigned projects.
• Keeps records of time and material used.
• Maintain parts inventory.
• Hand excavates underground piping and associated irrigation infrastructure.
• Operates trenches, compactors, power, and hand tools.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
