About The Position

As a Construction Ironworker at Garco Construction, Inc., you will play a crucial role in the assembly and installation of structural steel and rebar. Your primary responsibilities will include connecting bolts, welding, and performing various activities necessary for the construction of frameworks. Daily tasks will involve raising, placing, and uniting grinders, columns, and structural steel members to create completed structures. You may also be required to signal other structural steel workers and use tools such as crowbars and jacks to position steel members accurately. In addition to these tasks, you will align bolt holes for structural steel members with corresponding holes in previously placed steel pieces, ensuring proper fit and stability. This will involve using drift pins or spud wrenches to drive through holes and verify the vertical and horizontal alignment of steel pieces with tools like plumb bobs and levels. Once aligned, you will bolt the members in place temporarily until they can be permanently secured through bolting or welding. Prior to concrete pours, laying rebar for reinforcement will also be part of your responsibilities, along with welding steel in place and transporting steel and supplies to the work site. This position requires a strong safety focus, as it is classified as safety-sensitive under RCW 49.44.240. You will be expected to work in various weather conditions and operate a range of equipment, including man-lifts, pneumatic tools, and welding equipment. Garco Construction emphasizes a culture of safety and quality, ensuring that all employees are well-trained and equipped to perform their duties effectively.
