About The Position

The Ironworker is responsible for raising, placing, and joining structural steel and iron to form frameworks, supports, and other metal structures used in buildings, bridges, and industrial projects. This role requires working at heights, reading blueprints, rigging equipment, and ensuring safety standards are met at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Completion of an Ironworker apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in use of welding and cutting torches, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Strong knowledge of rigging, cranes, and hoisting equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy materials, climb, balance, and work at heights.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification (preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Teamwork and communication skills.
  • Precision and attention to detail.
  • Safety-conscious mindset.
  • Problem-solving ability in field conditions.
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
  • Unload, align, hoist, and position steel/iron members using cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment.
  • Bolt, weld, or rivet structural members in place.
  • Fabricate and install metal decking, stairs, ladders, and handrails.
  • Cut, grind, and fit metal pieces as required.
  • Inspect and maintain rigging, tools, and equipment.
  • Work at heights using scaffolds, aerial lifts, and fall protection systems.
  • Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and site-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with other trades and supervisors to complete projects on time.
