About The Position

A fabrication shop in Goldsboro, North Carolina is hiring an experienced Ironworker for field installation work. This is a hands-on ironworker role focused on the installation of miscellaneous structural steel components at commercial and industrial job sites across eastern North Carolina. If you have structural steel erection experience and can weld in the field, we want to talk. This is a contract-to-hire position. Strong performers convert to permanent employment. Weekly pay via direct deposit from day one. Requirements

  • Experience installing structural or miscellaneous steel in a field setting
  • Field welding experience (MIG or stick); demonstrated ability to weld in position on active job sites
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and installation blueprints
  • Comfortable working at heights and in varying outdoor conditions year-round
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform labor-intensive work throughout a full shift
  • Reliable transportation to job sites across eastern North Carolina
  • Valid photo ID and ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with an ironworker or structural steel erector crew
  • Background in a fabrication or custom metalwork shop environment
  • Experience with layout and field fabrication in addition to installation

Responsibilities

  • Install miscellaneous structural steel components including platforms, ladders, grating, and related ironwork at commercial and industrial job sites across eastern North Carolina
  • Perform field welding on structural steel using MIG or stick welding processes; weld in multiple positions to meet project specifications
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, installation blueprints, and work orders to understand scope and sequence before starting work
  • Measure, lay out, fit, and secure steel components to correct alignment, level, and plumb using hand tools and power tools
  • Drill, cut, and grind steel as needed to achieve proper fit during field installation
  • Rig and position structural steel members for installation; signal or operate lifting equipment as required
  • Inspect completed ironwork for quality, alignment, and compliance with project drawings before sign-off
  • Coordinate daily with the shop team and project foreman on material staging, sequencing, and job site readiness
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site throughout the duration of each project
