About The Position

The Iron Worker General Foreman is responsible for overseeing the construction and installation of iron and steel structures within the manufacturing industry. This position is responsible for ensuring that all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The foreman will lead a team of iron workers, coordinating their activities and providing guidance to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project specifications. Additionally, the foreman will be involved in planning and scheduling work, managing resources, and communicating with project stakeholders to ensure timely completion of tasks. Ultimately, the Iron Worker General Foreman is key to delivering successful projects that meet client expectations and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of structural steel erection, rigging, welding, and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment related to ironworking.
  • Valid certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, rigging, welding, first aid/CPR) preferred.
  • Certification in welding or related fields.
  • Experience with project management software and tools.
  • OSHA 30-hour safety certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of iron workers on-site to ensure adherence to safety protocols and project timelines.
  • Review project plans and specifications to determine the necessary materials and equipment required for each job.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work performed to ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to report progress and address any issues that arise.
