About The Position

Fabricate, erect, and dismantle structural steel bridge framework according to engineered drawings and blueprints, performing such work consistent with corporate mission, values and departmental financial objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must possess basic reading and mathematical skills.
  • Some mechanical skills normally obtained from experience with manufacturing or construction processes, including reading a tape measure and using power and hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Set up hoisting equipment, raising and placing structural-steel members, with basic rigging knowledge for raising and placing structural steel members.
  • Fasten steel members to the cable of hoist, using chain, cable or rope.
  • Signal worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel members.
  • Guide member, using tag line in order to guide it into position.
  • Pull, push or pry steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device.
  • Force members into final position, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks and hand tools.
  • Align bolt holes in steel members using drift pins or spud wrenches.
  • Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members using plumb bob and level.
  • Bolt align members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place.
  • Cut and weld steel members to make alterations using oxyacetylene welding equipment and supplies.
  • Load, transport, unload material, tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Lift, position, and secure materials and work pieces during installation.
  • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required.
