About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic reading and mathematical skills.
• Some mechanical skills obtained from experience in manufacturing or construction processes.
• Ability to read a tape measure and use power and hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up hoisting equipment and raise structural-steel members using basic rigging knowledge.
• Fasten steel members to the hoist cable using chain, cable, or rope.
• Signal the hoisting equipment operator to lift and place steel members accurately.
• Guide steel members into position using a tag line.
• Adjust steel members into approximate position while supported by a hoisting device.
• Use tools like turnbuckles, crowbars, and jacks to force members into their final position.
• Align bolt holes in steel members using drift pins or spud wrenches.
• Verify the vertical and horizontal alignment of members using a plumb bob and level.
• Bolt align members temporarily until they can be permanently secured.
• Cut and weld steel members for alterations using oxyacetylene welding equipment.
• Load, transport, unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
• Lift, position, and secure materials during installation.
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.
• Comply with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
