About the position

The Iron Range Professional Engineering Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in advancing and managing specialized STEM education programs and outreach initiatives in the Iron Range region. This position focuses on program development, curriculum design, and industry collaboration, serving as a liaison between regional industries, graduate students, and educational institutions to ensure that educational offerings align with community needs. The role emphasizes program and curriculum design, with minimal teaching responsibilities, and aims to provide expert guidance in developing educational initiatives that meet the objectives of the SCSE and regional requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of educational programs, conducting needs assessments, reviewing curriculum, and evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for regional STEM education and the SCSE Professional Engineering Program, providing guidance in the development and rollout of new initiatives.
  • Create benchmarks for measuring program success and develop strategies to continuously refine and improve educational offerings.
  • Develop and implement a variety of STEM outreach programs aligned with SCSE's strategic objectives.
  • Leverage STEM expertise to provide specialized programming and outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with SCSE's outreach coordinator and local stakeholders to assess outreach initiatives and incorporate feedback into future program development.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with regional industries and educational institutions.
  • Lead the creation and execution of project plans to meet program goals, managing timelines, resources, and growth strategies.
  • Act as a liaison between SCSE and Minnesota North Community Colleges to optimize resource sharing and program integration.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Dean's Office and the Outreach Coordinator to ensure alignment with broader SCSE goals and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in relevant field and at least 6 years of experience.
  • Evidence of skills and successful accomplishments in areas similar to specific job responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD in relevant STEM field
  • Teaching experience in STEM or relevant field
  • Expertise in STEM education, program development and coordination, or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to create and execute project plans, manage resources, monitor progress, and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology for educational outreach and program management.
  • Knowledge of higher education systems and community engagement practices.
