The Iron Operator position involves working as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility located in Springfield, MO. The primary responsibility of the Iron Operator is to ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of various types of merchandise, including towels, napkins, tablecloths, and aprons, as they move through the laundry process. This role requires the operator to stage and feed merchandise onto the ironer in a manner that minimizes wrinkling and tangling, ensuring that the items are processed correctly. Once the merchandise has been ironed, the operator is responsible for receiving and folding the items, as well as identifying and segregating any merchandise that does not meet the specified quality standards due to rips, tears, holes, or stains. In addition to handling the merchandise, the Iron Operator must accurately verify the quantity of items processed and bundle them by type, placing these bundles into the correct storage carts. The role also involves maneuvering both full and empty carts throughout the facility. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment is crucial, and the operator is expected to observe best practices in all production activities. Other duties may be assigned as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the laundry operations. The position requires the ability to understand and follow all required training, as well as written and verbal instructions. A working knowledge of basic math skills is necessary for verifying quantities and bundling items. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are important for effective teamwork. The Iron Operator must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must adhere to an attendance schedule that may include shifts on weekends and overtime as needed. The work environment is dynamic, with exposure to various weather conditions, and the role involves repetitive motions, including bending, reaching, pulling, twisting, and lifting. The operator must be capable of pushing carts that can weigh approximately 300 lbs, and standing and walking for extended periods is required.
