The operator must be attentive to detail to minimize wrinkling and tangling of the merchandise during processing. After the items have been ironed, the operator is responsible for receiving and folding them appropriately, while also identifying and segregating any merchandise that does not meet the specified quality standards due to rips, tears, holes, or stains. In addition to handling merchandise, the Iron Operator must accurately verify the quantity of items processed and bundle them by type, placing these bundles into the correct storage carts. The role also involves maneuvering both full and empty carts throughout the facility. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment is essential, and the operator is expected to observe best practices in all production activities. Other duties may be assigned as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the laundry operations. A working knowledge of basic math skills is necessary for verifying merchandise quantities. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are important for effective teamwork. The operator must be able to work independently and meet attendance schedules, which may include shifts on weekends and the possibility of overtime as needed.
