Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Graduate of a 2 Year AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • Minimum Years of Experience: None
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (R);
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (VI) in Vascular-Interventional Radiology or registration obtained within two (2) years of transition into position;
  • Current South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) current license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and tasks assigned the Special Procedure Technologist.
  • Apply knowledge of the principles of radiation protection for the patient, self, and others and wears a radiation dosimeter and protective lead as assigned while on duty.
  • Apply knowledge of anatomy, positioning and radiographic techniques to accurately demonstrate anatomical structures on radiograph.
  • Determine exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic technique with a minimum amount of radiation exposure to the patient.
  • Assist the Radiologist in performing invasive procedures to include but not limited to, arteriography, venography, transluminal angioplasties, stents, venous access, percutaneous drainage procedures, biopsies, myelography, acute stroke therapy, vascular embolization’sand other interventional procedures.
  • Responsible for taking on call assignments on a rotational basis for all shifts as assigned.
  • Operates all Interventional equipment.
  • Practice proper sterile techniques in setting up procedural trays and opening supplies for Interventional procedures.
  • Assists the radiologists in the use of guidewires and catheters when performing invasive procedures.
  • Assists with patient transport whenever necessary.
  • Clocks in/out according to hospital policy and approves time in Kronos at the end of pay period.
  • Attends staff meetings as required and completes all mandatory education requirements.
  • Volunteers and serves on various committees and work teams as requested.
  • Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient condition which results in patient harm.
  • Adheres to policies of logging in/out of any information systems and maintains confidentiality of passwords, security codes and adheres and follows HIPAA guidelines.
  • Serves and protects the hospital community by ensuring adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements, and DNV.
  • Help evaluate any problem with equipment and have problems reported as needed for service.
  • Demonstrates good public relations and service excellence at all times,
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency, i.e. fire disaster.
