Responsibilities: Responsible for setting up interventional radiology (IR) rooms specific to the study being conducted. Utilizes customer service skills while interacting with patients as well as family members to create a caring atmosphere during their visit. With minimal supervision, responsible for setting up for all interventional procedures in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work. Additional duties may include work on special projects such as new equipment evaluations, resource manuals, assisting in the design of areas where clinical equipment will be installed, or assignment to departmental committees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepares room and patient specific to the exam to be performed. Arranges equipment, trays, supplies, position patients, and determine proper exposure factors to produce a high quality image. Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure. Observes each patient’s status and interprets appropriate information needed to meet age-specific needs. Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transferboards, hover mats. Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly. Completes and bills for studies accurately. Other duties as assigned.
