About The Position

IPU Nursing Shift Supervisors work closely with the IPU Clinical Manager(s) to provide supervision for each shift, manage staffing, and complete clinical duties.

Requirements

  • Associates (or greater) in Science of Nursing degree
  • Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Indiana
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in behavioral health field (previous leadership experience preferred)
  • Strong organization and leadership skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skillful in conflict resolution and interpersonal communication
  • Knowledge in implementation of evidence-based Nursing practice in behavioral health settings

  • Incorporates the six principles of trauma informed care throughout all aspects of their work.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to nursing staff through conflict resolution, communication, and delegation skills.
  • Manages and coordinates staffing needs.
  • Rotates after hours on-call coverage with other IPU Nursing shift supervisors, providing shift coverage when needed to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Serves on Inpatient Infection Control Committee and helps with collection and reporting of infection control related data.
  • Provides orientation, training, and continued education for all new and existing staff
  • Provides direct patient care by completing nursing assessments, medication education and administration, treatment planning, and providing other healthcare services to patients.
  • Ensures operational standards and guidelines are met through knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provides feedback and evaluation of performance to all nursing staff, assisting in goal setting and development of individual competencies.
  • Drives and challenges initiatives for quality improvement and improved patient care.
  • Reviews timesheets and work records for nursing staff
  • Establishes, creates, and fosters a safe and positive environment for both patients and staff.
  • Creates and ensures staff implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
