About The Position

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented iPSC Bioprocessing Scientist to provide weekend support for the Research & Development (R&D) team through execution of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) bioprocessing and culture operations. This role is responsible for maintaining healthy, high-quality iPSC cultures through routine feeding, monitoring, scale-up, and support of differentiation processes using both traditional culture vessels and single-use bioreactor systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with aseptic technique, mammalian cell culture (iPSC experience preferred), and accurate laboratory documentation. This role requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple culture systems in parallel, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field with 3–4 years of relevant laboratory experience
  • OR
  • M.S. in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field with 1–2 years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Extensive experience with aseptic technique and routine work in a biosafety cabinet (BSC).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently maintain and expand mammalian cell cultures without antibiotics.
  • Strong experience with flask-, plate-, and single-use bioreactor–based cell culture systems.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and troubleshooting skills with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently in a weekend-support environment while collaborating effectively within a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience expanding and differentiating iPSC cell lines.

  • Experience with cell fixation and preparation for flow cytometry analysis.
  • Familiarity with Benchling ELN or similar electronic documentation platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform lab-based bioprocessing activities supporting the R&D team through routine iPSC culture maintenance and cell-based operations using strict aseptic technique.
  • Independently execute iPSC expansion, passaging, media exchanges, and maintenance of single-use bioreactor, flask, and plate-based culture systems in accordance with established protocols.
  • Support iPSC differentiation workflows by maintaining culture health, confluency, and morphology across ongoing processes.
  • Conduct routine monitoring and assessment of culture performance, including cell counts, viability measurements, and microscopic imaging.
  • Perform cell fixation on in-process and drug substance materials to prepare samples for downstream analytical characterization (e.g., flow cytometry).
  • Manage multiple bioreactor systems in parallel and maintain ownership of weekend culture operations with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and clearly communicate weekend process status, observations, and results to week-day R&D staff and leadership.
