About The Position

The IPS Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating structured activities for youth enrolled in Xiente’s Intensive Prevention Services (IPS) program. This role supports the social, emotional, and developmental needs of at-risk youth by creating safe, engaging, and therapeutic opportunities that promote positive behavior, skill-building, and community connection. The Coordinator works closely with IPS Case Managers, counselors, and families to ensure activities align with individual service plans and overall program goals. Responsibilities include developing activity schedules, leading group and individual sessions, maintaining accurate documentation, and building partnerships with community organizations to enhance programming. This position requires strong communication skills, creativity, consistency, and a genuine commitment to supporting youth in Philadelphia’s urban communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Human Services, or a related field
  • OR equivalent experience working directly with youth in community-based or prevention programs.
  • Prior experience facilitating youth activities, groups, workshops, or recreational programming.
  • Experience working with at-risk or urban youth, families, or community organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead structured activities for youth ages 10–18.
  • Creativity in designing engaging, developmentally appropriate, and trauma-informed programming.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and comfort working in a fast-paced, community-based environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Philadelphia neighborhoods and youth service systems.
  • Experience with restorative practices, SEL (social-emotional learning), or trauma-informed care.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred to support Xiente’s diverse families.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to support off-site activities (if applicable to your program).

Responsibilities

  • Create, plan, and implement a structured calendar of activities aligned with IPS program goals.
  • Develop engaging, age-appropriate, and trauma-informed activities that support life skills, social-emotional learning, teamwork, and positive youth development.
  • Adapt activities to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of youth ages 10–18.
  • Lead individual and group sessions in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Encourage participation, model positive behavior, and promote healthy peer interactions.
  • Build trusting, professional relationships with youth and maintain consistent engagement.
  • Work closely with IPS Case Managers, counselors, and program leadership to ensure activities support individual service plans.
  • Communicate with families to encourage involvement and reinforce youth progress.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and interdisciplinary planning.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, activity logs, and progress notes.
  • Ensure all documentation meets program, city, and state requirements.
  • Track youth participation and engagement trends to support reporting and program improvement.
  • Coordinate with community organizations, recreation centers, cultural institutions, and service providers to enhance activity offerings.
  • Arrange occasional off-site trips, guest speakers, or special events that support program goals.
  • Represent Xiente professionally when engaging with external partners.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and youth-friendly program environment.
  • Support crisis prevention and de-escalation using trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
  • Assist with general program operations as needed to ensure smooth service delivery
