About The Position

The IPM Sprayer/Scout position is a full-time role based in Ontario, NY, focused on monitoring and managing pests and diseases in a greenhouse environment. The job requires flexibility in working hours, including potential second shifts and occasional weekends, especially during peak seasons. The primary responsibilities include daily scouting for pests, applying chemicals, maintaining insect traps, and following Integrated Pest Management (IPM) protocols. The role also involves compiling reports, monitoring pollination levels, and ensuring cleanliness and adherence to food safety policies within the greenhouse.

Requirements

• Previous experience in greenhouse or produce environment.
• Ability to obtain a pesticide license within 90 days of hire.
• Willingness to learn with training provided on pest and disease identification.
• Basic knowledge of insects and pests.
• Good verbal and written communication skills; Spanish is an asset.
• Honesty, flexibility, reliability, and respectfulness.
• Ability to work extra hours as needed, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Daily monitoring and scouting of pest and disease in the Greenhouse.
• Mixing and applying chemicals.
• Operating spray machines.
• Early detection and identification of pests.
• Maintaining insect traps and conducting weekly trap counts.
• Managing and distributing bios according to Grower instructions.
• Following IPM protocols for pest and disease management.
• Compiling IPM and conventional reports for management.
• Monitoring pollination levels and introducing beehives weekly.
• Verifying pest and disease infestations.
• Recording and verifying data on plant varieties.
• Supporting other departments as needed.
• Ensuring cleanliness and adherence to food safety policies.
