About The Position

The Utility Finance Manager is responsible for managing and planning the overall financial and accounting activities of the utility. This role involves directing, organizing, and assigning work to subordinates while collaborating closely with leaders across various divisions to ensure effective budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting. The manager provides strategic advice to department leaders to help achieve financial and strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • 6 to 10 years of progressively responsible utility and/or governmental accounting experience.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Completion of required NIMS level training within the first six months of hire.
  • Knowledge of governmental and utility accounting principles and practices.
  • Understanding of Federal, State, Municipal Charter, and Bond Covenants.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration.
  • Experience with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's regulations.
