The IP Project Manager will oversee various intellectual property projects, including patent filing and annuity payment projects, while providing technical assistance in managing IP-related matters. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely evaluations and communications.

  • Managing IP projects such as patent filing and prosecution with outside counsel
  • Tracking and reviewing invention disclosures for technical content and ensuring timely evaluations for patent filings
  • Collecting and synthesizing technical information
  • Conducting analysis of technical information and providing summary reports for patentability, freedom to operate, and patent invalidity analysis
  • Writing and communicating clear instructions for finding prior grades for patent invalidation
  • Managing annuity payment projects for the patent portfolio
  • Planning and providing clear instructions for conducting technical lab work
  • Working with Order Plan and other internal systems to investigate grade history and collect technical evidence for legal cases
  • Supporting patent prosecution and invalidation work with external lawyers by providing technical subject matter support and analysis
  • Preparing and maintaining documents to support operational needs
  • Creating electronic and physical files, ensuring timely communication and filing
  • Maintaining database and filing systems, both physical and electronic
  • Ensuring compliance with Ahlstrom Information Security policies when handling information and using information systems
  • MS with at least 3 years of industrial experience or PhD in a relevant technical field
  • Currently authorized to work in the US
  • Training or experience in patent and invention disclosure matters is a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and bring them to completion
  • High level of motivation and drive to resolve technical matters
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to set priorities under pressure
  • Strong analytical capability and technical capacity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of US patent law and procedures is a plus
  • Ability to manage data and work with IT systems for data management
  • High level of initiative and ownership of assigned tasks
  • Strong knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Training or experience in patent and invention disclosure matters
  • Knowledge of US patent law and procedures
