Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a prestigious global Am Law 50 firm, is seeking an experienced IP Docketing Specialist with a strong background in U.S. and Foreign trademark prosecution docketing. This position is primarily based in one of our local offices, including Downtown Los Angeles, Century City, Orange County, Del Mar, San Diego, San Francisco, or Silicon Valley, but we are also open to candidates who can work from our other U.S. offices such as Dallas, Houston, or Chicago. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in trademark prosecution docketing and will be responsible for maintaining deadlines and accurate data in the docketing database for client matters related to trademark prosecution. The IP Docketing Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring that all incoming client communications, including U.S. Mail, e-mail, courier packages, and faxes, are reviewed to determine due dates or reminder dates that need to be entered into the Firm's computerized docketing database. This position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as the specialist will be responsible for entering all due dates and reminder dates, saving appropriate communications in the IP document management system, and preparing reports for attorneys and staff as needed. The role also involves following up on daily dockets to ensure that all due dates are satisfied and updating the docketing database on a daily basis as indicated by attorneys or client correspondence. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of IP Administration and collaborate with IP attorneys and staff to maintain clear and transparent communication regarding all matters related to docketing. This position demands the ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, while adhering to the Firm's best practices and protocols regarding IP docketing. Overtime may be required on occasion based on workload demands, and while the position allows for remote work, attendance in the office will be required on an as-needed basis.
