About The Position

We are seeking a skilled IP/Console Design Release Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves performing engineering design evaluations and concept development across global vehicle programs, with a focus on creating innovative and efficient system solutions. The position offers a unique opportunity to work on the development of instrument panels and consoles, integrating next-generation displays and electronics while collaborating with various vehicle systems.

Requirements

  • Intermediate knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Lotus Notes or other email communication tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional and cross-cultural collaboration.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for meetings and presentations.
  • Ability to work well in a team, exhibiting strong teamwork skills.
  • Experience partnering with senior management to analyze and solve issues.
  • Ability to multitask and handle diverse assignments concurrently.
  • Strong ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations.
  • Strong understanding of materials, engineering theory, and principles of design.
  • Familiarity with basic hand and machine tools.
  • Strong ability to use common measurement tools and techniques.
  • Position-related experience of 5 years.
  • Relevant auto industry experience required at entry-level (<1 year).
  • Areas of expertise include Testing, Design, and Analysis.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering Degree.
  • Experience with injection molding and interior plastic parts or IP/Console DRE.
  • Nice to have experience with RedX, DFSS, interior automotive, Catia, and Design.
  • Familiarity with Fishbone analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design evaluations and concept development across global vehicle programs.
  • Use engineering tools and collaborate with CAE groups, including Safety Performance, to develop optimal system solutions.
  • Assess design-to-manufacturing processes such as injection molding, vibration welding, vacuum forming, foam-in-place, and wrapping for instrument panels and consoles.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes for IP Structures, including steel and aluminum stamping, extrusion, robotic welding, magnesium die casting, and hybrid concepts.
  • Package components and coordinate with other vehicle systems (Thermal, Electrical, Body, Chassis, Restraints, etc.).
  • Support initial vehicle configuration work, cost optimization, customer-focused requirements, and product/process improvements.
  • Balance business imperatives like cost, mass, complexity, and timing.
  • Communicate with internal and external customer organizations and lead the product development team (PDT).
  • Stay informed about new technologies and product developments.
  • Initiate the design process, perform design analysis, diagnose and correct deficiencies, and assist in maintaining cost controls.
  • Provide technical direction to support personnel and initiate supportive build programs.
  • Plan and implement test and development programs, coordinating with suppliers and customers frequently.
