About The Position

The Medical Assistant position is a full-time role that involves various essential functions aimed at providing quality patient care. The Medical Assistant will demonstrate the ability to recognize urgent and emergent needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures as needed. They will follow clinic procedures for the organization and management of electronic medical records, facilitate interdisciplinary communication, and assess the learning needs of patients and their families. The role includes assisting with a variety of procedures and maintaining appropriate aseptic techniques. Accurate documentation of patient interactions and reporting results to patients and healthcare team members are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHP or ABHES.
  • CMA or RMA certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • Clinic/physician office experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification or obtained within three months of hire.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize urgent/emergent needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various payor regulations and function within those guidelines.
  • Follow clinic procedures for the organization and management of electronic medical records.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and utilize other healthcare team members in patient assessment.
  • Assess learning needs of patients and significant others, providing accurate information.
  • Evaluate patient and family understanding of treatment plans and instructions.
  • Assist with procedures, exams, and operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned.
  • Maintain appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, procedures, and medications.
  • Accurately document all patient interactions in electronic medical records.
  • Report results and pertinent information to patients and healthcare team members.
  • Perform basic medical assistant functions under the direction and supervision of a provider.
  • Maintain professional appearance of patient exam and procedure rooms.
  • Maintain supplies in assigned area.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement projects.
