About The Position

The IONM Technician plays a critical role in managing intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) cases within an operating room environment. This position involves working closely with surgical teams during various procedures, including orthopedic spine, neuro, and vascular surgeries. The technician is responsible for implementing advanced monitoring techniques such as somatosensory evoked potentials, transcranial motor evoked potentials, and both spontaneous and triggered electromyography. A strong skill set in auditory brainstem responses (ABRs), motor mapping, and cranial nerve monitoring is highly desirable. The incumbent must establish and maintain effective working relationships across the health system, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. A minimum of two years of IONM experience is required, along with a CNIM certification from ABRET. The technician must possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and physical abilities essential for the successful performance of their duties. A valid California Driver's License and the ability to legally work in the United States are also mandatory. In addition to technical skills, the IONM Technician is expected to exhibit self-direction and initiative, mastering both basic and advanced elements of EEG, EP, and EMG acquisition. They should be capable of artifact detection and elimination, and apply advanced techniques independently during complex procedures. The technician will also serve as a resource for junior staff and take responsibility for specific aspects of laboratory organization, acting as the lead lab team member in those areas. Continuing education and maintaining certification in Neurophysiological Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) are essential for this role, as is staying updated on changes and advances in the field.
