About The Position

As an Investment Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the administration, legal compliance, and regulatory aspects of self-directed IRAs with a focus on cryptocurrency investments. This position involves working closely with compliance, audit, and operations teams to ensure that all transactions meet regulatory requirements and are executed in accordance with IRS rules and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, law, or a related field (preferred).
• Paralegal certification from an accredited program (preferred).
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with self-directed IRAs, crypto investments, or both.
• Strong understanding of cryptocurrency markets, blockchain technology, and regulations governing digital assets, including IRS tax rules related to cryptocurrency investments in retirement accounts.
• Experience with legal research tools, document management systems, and compliance databases.
• Strong understanding of securities laws, tax implications, and IRA regulations (e.g., IRS Publication 590).
• Familiarity with crypto exchanges, wallets, blockchain technology, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
• Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the review and interpretation of legal documents related to self-directed IRAs, focusing on cryptocurrency investments.
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations, including IRS rules, SEC guidelines, and other relevant regulatory frameworks for crypto investments in IRAs.
• Draft, review, and manage documents such as investment agreements, custodial agreements, and powers of attorney.
• Oversee the process of crypto investment transactions within self-directed IRAs, including setting up accounts, processing transactions, and ensuring proper documentation.
• Work closely with clients to review their crypto investment choices, explain processes, and help structure investments in compliance with applicable laws.
• Coordinate with custodians, brokers, and third-party crypto service providers to facilitate smooth execution of investments.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes related to crypto investments to ensure compliance and advise clients accordingly.
• Conduct due diligence on cryptocurrency investments to assess their legitimacy, potential risks, and alignment with IRA regulations.
• Review and manage risk factors related to the valuation and custody of digital assets held within self-directed IRAs.
• Assist with internal audits and regulatory reporting, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to internal controls.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients investing in cryptocurrency through their self-directed IRAs or LLC.
• Provide guidance to clients on compliance issues, investment structures, and the potential risks and rewards associated with crypto investments.
• Ensure that clients receive timely and accurate information regarding their account status and investment options.
• Other tasks as assigned by management.
