PRIMARY FUNCTION The Investment Intern will gain hands-on exposure to the research, analytics, reporting, and operational functions of Pitcairn’s Investment Team. This internship offers practical experience in goals-based multi-asset portfolio construction and management on behalf of ultra-high net worth, multi-generational families. To deliver this, the Intern will support the team’s delivery of portfolio risk and return analytics, investment manager due diligence and research, and client communications. Additionally, the Intern will contribute to research initiatives, and support strategic investment projects. These core activities require close coordination with members of other functional groups such as relationship management, investment operations, and business development.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (majors in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related fields preferred).
  • Demonstrated interest in markets, investing, or economics, shown through coursework, clubs, personal investing, or independent research.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with comfort in basic statistics to work with data, returns, and risk metrics.
  • Clear, concise writing and communication skills to draft memos, summaries, and presentation materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, take structured notes on calls, and follow through reliably.
  • Collaborative, intellectually curious mindset with willingness to ask questions, learn quickly, and take constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Support macro, markets, and portfolio construction research, using AI tools to organize data and streamline workflows.
  • Assist with external manager due diligence by preparing materials, drafting memos, and capturing key insights from calls.
  • Translate portfolio and market developments into clear summaries, dashboards, and talking points, using AI to simplify recurring reporting.
  • Participate in investment meetings, synthesizing themes, documenting decisions, and using AI to organize and repurpose content.
  • Partner with business development to analyze prospective client portfolios and create targeted materials for new business opportunities.
  • Coordinate with operations on account changes and trade execution to ensure activity aligns with client guidelines and timelines.
