About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Investment Research Intern to join our Investment Research team within the Private Wealth division. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with a diverse range of investment products, including mutual funds, while collaborating with various teams within our Private Wealth business. You will assist in gathering, analyzing, and presenting research on financial markets and investment opportunities. The internship will provide a thorough overview of the respective area and to allow learning in the financial services industry. This internship will work on a variety of projects; participate in department meetings and activities. Duties will involve analysis, project assimilation, data gathering and other duties as assigned. This position will be for UMB's 2026 summer internship program

Requirements

  • Must have completed at least the sophomore year of college, preferably in Finance, Banking, Investments, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Strong interest in finance, investments, and market research.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret financial data.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • At least two years of undergraduate studies completed and has demonstrated strong academic performance 2.5 overall GPA Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent analytical skills Detail oriented Skilled with system entry and mathematical formulas Demonstrated initiative both independently and within a team Proficient in Excel, Outlook and Word

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Investment Research team in conducting market and investment research, particularly on mutual funds and other investment vehicles.
  • Create and help prepare presentations summarizing research findings for internal and client-facing purposes.
  • Support the research team in analyzing investment performance and trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the Private Wealth division, including portfolio managers, financial advisors, and analysts, to support various research and investment initiatives.
  • Stay updated on market trends, economic developments, and other factors affecting investment strategies.
  • Assist with the maintenance and organization of research databases, reports, and other documentation.
