About The Position

The Investments Infrastructure team serves to create, support, and operate all of the front-office investment processes at AllianceBernstein. This covers functions including quantitative research, fundamental research, portfolio implementation, order management, compliance, and trading. The team has two broad types of roles: Technologists and Associate Portfolio Managers. Technologists include software developers, business analysts, process engineers, project managers, quality assurance specialists, and application support specialists. They create software tools or support & enhance third-party software tools in the support of the front-office. Associate Portfolio Managers, or 'APMS', partner with our Portfolio Managers to implement the daily management of our investment strategies, with activities such as rebalancing, handling cash flows, implementing trades, and overseeing account openings and closings. The APMs and Technologists partner together to create portfolio implementation processes that synergize people, process, and technology to create processes that allow for great scale as well as great customization in our implementation of portfolios. The Operational Excellence team within the Investments Infrastructure group is focused on designing investment processes that improve our efficiency and minimize our risk in managing portfolios. We bring an engineering mindset to our work, where we look to constantly improve our processes through automation, controls, and process reengineering. This particular role will be focused on our Fixed Income investment processes, although there may be an opportunity to work on our Equities and Multi-Asset portfolios in the future.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of experience implementing Fixed Income portfolios, either as an Associate Portfolio Manager or as a technologist.
  • A Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, computer science, engineering, or any related discipline.
  • Technology skills, either as a software developer or as a 'Citizen Developer'.
  • Desired skills include SQL, Excel, Python, VBA, C#, and experience with Business Intelligence tools.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Fixed Income portfolios as an experienced practitioner.
  • Collaborate with Associate Portfolio Managers and Technologists to create portfolio implementation processes.
