About The Position

The Orange County Employees Retirement System (OCERS) is seeking an Investment Officer (Private Markets) to join its Investments Team. This position is open to the public and applications will be accepted on a continuous basis until the needs of OCERS have been met. The Investment Officer will play a crucial role in overseeing a segment of OCERS' portfolio management operations, specifically within private markets, which include private equity, real assets, and real estate. The successful candidate will provide expert analytical and technical support for the Investments Division, focusing on investment management, reporting, performance measurement, and special projects. This role is designed for individuals with significant experience in public pension funds or equivalent portfolio management operations, and it requires the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision. The Investment Officer will report directly to the Director of Investments and is expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, accountability, professionalism, and customer service. The position involves a range of responsibilities, including recommending decisions within the asset class mandate, mentoring junior investment talent, managing investment department initiatives, and maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders. The Investment Officer will also be responsible for performing operational, financial, and investment analysis to support OCERS' initiatives, ensuring compliance with investment policies, and preparing materials for Investment Committee meetings. Candidates for this position should possess a strong educational background, including a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and ideally a Master's degree or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. The role demands a deep understanding of investment concepts, institutional investment management, and the ability to analyze complex financial data. The work environment is primarily office-based, with some travel required for due diligence and professional conferences. OCERS offers a competitive benefits package, including a defined benefit pension plan, educational reimbursement, and a flexible work schedule.
