Our Investment Operations team is currently seeking an Investment Officer III to provide specialized expertise in financial modeling, strategic analysis, and remediation of fee structures for investment strategies to provide operational implementation support for investment decision-making and drive our CalPERS mission. Duties include, but are not limited to: Lead remediation efforts for reviewing, reporting, and fee treatment challenges tied to new investment strategies and external manager fee structures. Partner with asset class teams, custodians, external service providers, the Financial Office (FINO), Investment Services (IS), finance, and contracting workstreams to ensure operational readiness for new investment strategies and fee mechanics across the Capital Markets. Build and maintain financial models to support external manager fee scenario analysis. Conduct fee impact analyses on new and existing investment strategies to ensure fee schedules are aligned with the mechanics of calculations. Configure, test, and maintain business processes for possible system enhancements that support evolving investment structures and complex fee arrangements. Support all IS workstreams by providing technical, financial, and analytical expertise to improve workflows and outcomes. Track KPIs and KRIs at a high level across the IS workstreams.

  • Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) preferred.
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgets and procurements, cost allocation, and data analysis within an investment management or financial services environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in business analysis and design for investment systems, including analyzing business requirements and developing technical specifications.
