About The Position

The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking an experienced individual to work as an Investment Officer II, STRS on the Total Fund Management (TFM) team. Under the direction of the Senior Portfolio Manager, TFM, the Investment Officer II is responsible for quantitative modeling, analysis, and support for balance sheet portfolio management and strategy to support the management of the overall CalSTRS fund. The incumbent is responsible for analysis to assist in the management of the balance sheet, including portfolio strategy, portfolio construction and execution, and counterparty relationships. The position requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, business, or a related field.
  • FRM, CFA, CAIA, or other industry certification.
  • Experience performing quantitative investment analysis.
  • Experience in optimizing balance sheet strategies.
  • Experience in liquidity risk analysis.
  • Strong analytical and technical ability.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to present information clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with and analyze large, complex data sources.
  • Ability to organize data, summarize, and convey complex concepts without loss of technical integrity.
  • Ability to apply excellent time management skills for efficient project completion.
  • Ability to handle multiple shifting priorities.

  • Professional certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) for a 5% monthly base pay differential.
