The Investment Team Intern will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the finance industry by working closely with the portfolio management team and other departments including compliance and marketing. Specifically, the Intern is expected to take a lead role in projects related to Chandler’s market and credit research process. This is a paid internship running approximately 10–12 weeks during Summer 2026 (June–August). The schedule is flexible between 20–40 hours per week based on availability. This position is based out of our San Diego, CA office and requires in-office work.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a degree, preferably in finance, business, economics or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Strong Excel, Microsoft Office, and Python skills, with SQL and VBA experience a plus
  • Interest in or familiarity with fixed income markets, credit analysis, or portfolio management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and consistently meet project deadlines.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and the desire to ask questions and learn from colleagues.
  • Commitment & enthusiasm toward achieving company goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bloomberg Terminal, financial databases, or data visualization tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market and credit research.
  • Assist in generating issuer credit write up documents.
  • Analyze historical trends in credit rating downgrades and defaults.
  • Assist in developing proprietary models to provide early warning signals of credit stress.
  • Utilize Bloomberg Terminal and other industry tools to gather and analyze fixed income market data.
  • Support portfolio analytics and performance measurement reporting.
  • Prepare data visualizations and summary reports for the investment team.
  • Participate in investment team meetings and contribute to discussions on market conditions and portfolio strategy.
