About The Position

The Investment Banking Analyst position within the Sponsors team at Scotiabank is a pivotal role designed to support the execution of deals across various industries and products while managing relationships with a diverse range of sponsors. This newly formed group is part of Scotiabank's strategic initiative to expand its leveraged finance product offerings and overall investment banking capabilities. The analyst will engage in a variety of tasks that include financial modeling, preparing pitch books, and supporting credit memo development, all while collaborating closely with Directors and Managing Directors in the team. The role is integral to the success of the team, ensuring that individual goals and initiatives align with the broader business strategies and objectives of the organization. In this role, the analyst will champion a client-centric culture, deepening relationships with clients and leveraging the bank's extensive resources to deliver tailored solutions within the financial sponsor space. This includes working with private equity firms, infrastructure funds, real asset managers, private credit providers, and family offices. The analyst will coordinate with various internal groups within Global Banking & Markets, such as Corporate & Investment Banking, credit and business risk, and capital markets, to ensure a comprehensive approach to client service. The day-to-day responsibilities will involve assisting in the underwriting and approval processes for sponsor-backed transactions, conducting thorough due diligence on target companies, and maintaining a database of client information and deal flow. The analyst will also be responsible for tracking market conditions and financial news related to sponsor transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and creating high-quality pitch materials to support client discussions. This role is not only about executing tasks but also about contributing to a high-performance and inclusive work environment that fosters collaboration and innovation.
