What You’ll Do MOSERS Investment Analysts support Investment Officers by conducting research and producing manager reports to identify new managers and monitor existing managers. An early career professional will assist with many duties, and their responsibilities will grow as they are coached and attend professional development opportunities. An experienced analyst will be able to immediately add value to the team by taking on research and reporting responsibilities. Regardless of the level of analyst, anyone that fills this role will receive coaching and professional development opportunities to advance in their knowledge, skills, and abilities resulting in promotional opportunities. Analysts will be given exposure to all private market asset classes, but the duties in this particular role will primarily focus on private credit investments. This position is located in our office in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, finance, or closely related field.
  • Prefer at least 4 years institutional investment experience, but will consider candidates with less experience.
  • Requires ability to interpret statistical data and investment markets.
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills are preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity and high degree of ethics.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with MOSERS staff, members, outside vendors, and other contacts.
  • Dedication to the task at hand and strive to exceed expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with multiple illiquid asset classes is preferred.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA)designation or progress towards the designation(s) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and progressively contribute to investment strategy, legal document and account paperwork review and completion with increasing understanding and contribution.
  • Assist with gathering, reconciling, and reporting information used in overseeing external manager relationships. Duties will include daily monitoring of assigned managers and assisting with due diligence meetings and assisting in writing reports to document current thoughts about each manager.
  • Assist in documenting the manager hiring and termination process for assigned assets to comply with MOSERS governance policies.
  • Assist in asset class meetings to inform the group about current market conditions, current positioning, manager performance, compliance and ad hoc research projects.
  • Produce research on markets, asset class and sub-asset class allocations for use in investment decision making.
  • Assists in identifying and monitoring strategic value-added investment opportunities.
  • Works with the internal risk team, investment managers, and software vendors to ensure the quality of the data in the risk measurement and custodian systems.
  • Develop and run reports in investment statistical software systems for use by the team in the investment decision making process.
