About The Position

The Investigator position is located in the SOU Sacramento Field Office and is responsible for conducting sensitive, complex, and diverse administrative, civil, and criminal investigations of misconduct by employees of the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) and pre-employment background investigations. The incumbent will work under the general direction of the Supervising Investigator I, Division of Investigation (DOI), Special Operations Unit (SOU). This position is assigned Peace Officer status, and successful candidates will be appointed on a permanent, full-time basis if they have met the POST training requirements. If not, they will be appointed on a limited-term, full-time basis until they complete the required training.

Requirements

• Valid California Drivers License (CDL).
• Pass a Drug Screening prior to hiring.
• Clear a Background Investigation prior to hiring.
• Obtain Medical Clearance prior to hiring.
• Pass a Psychological Evaluation clearance prior to hiring.
• Meet the provisions of California Penal Code Section 832 et. seq. for Peace Officer status.

Nice To Haves

• Possession of a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certificate of Completion.
• Law enforcement experience.
• 4-year degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, administration of justice, police science, criminology, or a comparable field.
