Investigator/ Mediator (Investigator 3) Oregon Landscape Contractors Board (LCB) Salem, Oregon (In Office) The Oregon Landscape Contractors Board (LCB) is hiring an Investigator/ Mediator. Your skills can make a real difference for the communities we serve. What You’ll Do As our Investigator / Mediator, you’ll take the lead on cases that directly impact Oregon consumers. You will: Investigate reports of illegal or unlicensed landscape work Gather evidence, interview involved parties, and prepare clear written findings Educate licensees, local governments, and the public on Oregon’s landscape laws Provide neutral mediation to help resolve disputes and guide parties toward fair outcomes Coordinate contract investigators and participate in multi‑agency investigative work Present evidence in administrative hearings or legal proceedings when needed Support agency planning, enforcement, and program development This is a highly independent, hands‑on role. Requirements

  • Four years of recent (within last ten years) full-time investigative experience which included conducting fact finding; collecting and preserving evidence according to the rules of evidence; examining records; locating and interviewing witnesses to verify or disprove claims of suspected law violations; and writing investigation reports sufficient for use at administrative hearings or in court.
  • Examples of qualifying investigation experience are in areas such as law enforcement investigation, insurance investigation, investigative trial support, or financial fraud investigation.
  • College-level courses in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Law, Accounting, or Auditing may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to one year of the required experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, track multiple cases or deadlines, and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • A record of work that reflects commitment to fairness, compliance, public service, or regulatory processes.
  • Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, partner agencies, stakeholders, or community groups.
