This is a non-sworn, civilian position within the Investigations Division of the Police Department. The Investigative Specialist is responsible for conducting timely and thorough investigations into various misdemeanor crimes, including but not limited to fraud, petty theft, vandalism, and minor assaults. This position involves reviewing police reports, researching criminal history, contacting other law enforcement agencies, and conducting interviews with victims, witnesses, and other involved parties. Reports to a Police Sergeant or higher-ranking supervisor within the Investigations Division and is expected to work both independently and collaboratively to support criminal case development. This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities.
