The Office of the Children’s Ombudsman (OCO) seeks a full-time Investigations Analyst to join our team. Information about the authorities and responsibilities of the OCO can be found on the OCO website: www.oco.virginia.gov. The Investigations Analyst conducts case reviews and complaint investigations of the actions of the Virginia Department of Social Services, local departments of social services, and child-serving agencies concerning children involved in child protective services and foster care. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are required. Additionally, the Investigations Analyst will participate with the OCO team to recommend policies, procedures, and laws to improve the child welfare system and impact individual cases. The Investigations Analyst will have the opportunity to: • Participate with the OCO team in developing recommendations for the OCO’s annual reports. • Assist with special projects related to the mission of the OCO. • Serve on external committees and workgroups. • Attend workshops, trainings, and conferences related to child welfare.
