The Minnehaha County Highway Department is seeking an Inventory Technician to join their team in Sioux Falls, SD. The Inventory Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining the inventory of essential parts and materials necessary for the maintenance and repair of equipment, roads, signs, and bridges. In this role, the Inventory Technician will be responsible for checking inventories and balancing electronic records to accurately reflect the physical quantities of equipment maintenance and repair parts, fluids, and materials for roads, signs, and bridges. The technician will order, receive, restock, and verify withdrawals for various inventories, including fleet, road materials, sign shop, bridge inventory, and weed chemicals. Additionally, the technician will generate work orders and requisitions to procure parts and inventory for a diverse fleet, which includes heavy trucks, heavy equipment, automobiles, small machinery, and attachments. Ensuring the accuracy of inventory, supplies, outsourcing, and labor on fleet work orders is essential before closing the orders. The Inventory Technician will also be responsible for procuring parts, including pickup and delivery when required, and creating requisitions to order inventory and materials necessary for maintaining roadways, bridges, culverts, and signs throughout Minnehaha County. Coordination with vendors for quotes, warranty work, and recalls will be part of the job, as well as working closely with the Fleet Supervisor and Highway Accountant to ensure accurate coding of expenditures. The technician will maintain expenses within the annual budget, prepare and run inventory and asset reports as needed, and comply with Minnehaha County Purchasing Policy and State Statutes.
