About The Position

Reporting to the Department Manager, the Inventory Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory control. Key duties include conducting cycle counts, making weekly inventory adjustments, preventing production shortages, and verifying inventory at off-site locations. The role also requires active participation in all physical inventory counts, ensuring discrepancies remain within a 1% margin. A strong emphasis is placed on meeting the needs of internal customers.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory management and reporting.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under tight deadlines while maintaining professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Advanced Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to navigate and utilize computer-based inventory systems.
  • Mathematical proficiency at a high school level, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Must be able to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to write clear correspondence and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group settings.
  • Ability to keep records, contacts, data, and information organized and easily accessible.
  • Crosstrain to serve as a backup for co-pack customer reporting, including the pay-at-production process.
  • High school standard of education.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, or Accounting is required.
  • Understanding of GMP and Lab Safety, Standard Methods and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas (including but not limited to hairnets/beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard toe and slip/oil resistant shoes, appropriate safety gloves, and seatbelts while operating forklifts)
  • Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per the standard(s) provided by corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies (ex. SQF).
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by performing scheduled cycle counts (daily, weekly, and pre/post-production) to track processing materials, concentrates, raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods (including co-pack items). Identify and resolve discrepancies through investigation and corrective actions.
  • Review, reconcile, and resolve inventory reports exported from SAP into Excel.
  • Ensure accurate daily production postings and process order closings, reconciling finished goods inventory in SAP.
  • Verify the accuracy of all inventory-related documentation, including codes, descriptions, and order numbers.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting by reconciling cycle count results, tracking inventory adjustments, and generating reports such as cycle count validations, inventory adjustment trends, standard loss tracking, and co-pack tanker receipt tracking.
  • Communicate with relevant departments to maintain inventory accuracy across multiple site facilities and conduct monthly reconciliations.
  • Organize and maintain inventory-related documents, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), manual BOLs, cycle count adjustments, DOMR paperwork, supplier claims, vendor returns, and shipping records.
  • Adhere to Month-End Cutoff procedures by validating receipts, finalizing inventory adjustments, clearing system errors (COGI), verifying MB5T transfer transactions, and ensuring vendor holds and disposal processes are completed.
  • Conduct pre- and post-production counts and adjust inventory daily based on specific materials and scheduled count cycles.
  • Reconcile processing and concentrate inventory with finished goods process orders.
  • Review and correct errors on incoming BOLs post-receiving and conduct monthly internal audits to ensure compliance with the Refresco Receiving Policy.
  • Verify and reconcile inventory for Interplant Transfer Orders, including the Ship/Confirm process.
  • Process, track, and manage the disposal of DOMRs, including transportation for final disposal.
  • Compile and monitor supplier claims.
  • Regularly review the plant Hold Log for inventory status updates.
  • Develop and implement inventory control processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with QA and Material Management to determine the final disposition of hold inventory, ensuring timely disposal or return to suppliers with system updates.
  • Serve as a liaison between Material Management, Manufacturing, and other departments to address issues such as non-deliveries, non-conforming inventory, and aged stock.
  • Track and report aging, expired, and non-conforming inventory data.
  • Coordinate with Processing, Bottling, and Material Management teams to ensure accurate and consistent communication regarding inventory flow into the plant.
  • Complete month-end closing of process orders, perform necessary reconciliations, and address COGI errors.
  • Lead and coordinate the Year-End Physical Inventory process, ensuring proper documentation and accurate variance reconciliation.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory accuracy and standard loss factor variances.
  • Process and reconcile vendor-returned items (e.g., 122 return-to-vendor movements).
